Silver Spring, MD — The annual fundraiser Bright Stars offered a free night at the circus for families enrolled in Easterseals programs. Presenting sponsor M&T Bank, along with many other local businesses, covered ticket costs for the event, which raised over $400,000 for Easterseals services in DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia.
As part of the nonprofit’s commitment to expanding accessibility, Bright Stars brought the circus to the Warner Theater, conveniently located in downtown Washington, DC, for more families to enjoy. Attendees enjoyed an exclusive performance by Omnium: A Bold New Circus, witnessing gravity-defying acrobatic feats by multi-abled performers. Aligned with Easterseals’ mission of inclusivity, Omnium provided a mindful audio-visual experience translated into American Sign Language.
In the District of Columbia, Easterseals provides affordable early care and education to families regardless of their ability to pay. The Easterseals Harry & Jeanette Weinberg Child Development Center accepts childcare vouchers and offers scholarships for low-income or military families. Additionally, Easterseals children with developmental delays receive DC-funded early intervention services, often directly at the center, at no cost to their families. To further support low-income families, Easterseals opened a new Early Head Start center two years ago in the District.
