Easterseals MORC Helps Man to Find Belonging, Hope, and Desire to Help Others

The people in Frankie’s life describe him as a very understanding person who is passionate about making a difference in his community. In his free time, he enjoys playing various video games, and exploring content creation through Twitch, a video game streaming platform.

“I like to think that I have strong leadership abilities,” Frankie said. “When I am cool and confident, I have instincts that usually end up good and am a good friend to all.”

Frankie’s Behavioral Health Clinician at Easterseals MORC, Ashley Vallone, LLMSW, mentioned that he has encountered many obstacles in his early life and young adult life. On top of these, Frankie shared that he experienced multiple mental health challenges prior to beginning services at Easterseals MORC.

“Frankie has been receiving services at Easterseals MORC for a little over a year,” Ashley said. “He’s progressed quickly and has utilized skills he’s learned to help regulate intense emotions he faces. Frankie has stated that he’s finding new joys in life and being involved with our organization has been one of the best experiences of his life.”

Frankie is currently receiving case management mental health services and recently began the Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) program at Easterseals MORC. He mentioned how the DBT program quickly became his favorite part of receiving services.

“The DBT program is very engaging and interesting program,” Frankie said. “In such a short time, I’ve noticed my curiosity spark and I have already been able to implement some of the tools I’ve learned in this program.”

Frankie explained that he has been aware of Easterseals MORC most of his life, but having the opportunity to receive services has helped him to feel confident and be his best self.

“When I first began my journey with Easterseals MORC, I was referred by United Way’s 211 resource,” Frankie said. “Since the beginning, you’ve been there when I needed someone. Through every low and every celebration, Ashley, and case manager, Kim, have been available to help me and teach me various tools to use when I don’t feel my best.”

Frankie shared vulnerabilities stating that a past version of himself felt cold, didn’t want to live anymore, and lacked confidence. Fast forward to today, Frankie is excited for the future and wants to help people who have experienced similar situations.

“Easterseals MORC helped me to enjoy life and made me feel cared about,” Frankie said. “I’m extremely grateful for the opportunity to be an ambassador. I look forward to being able to give back and get involved. I want to help others like me to let them know that help is available and that they to, matter.”
