Easterseals MORC Helps Woman to Feel Supported and Find Stability

Liz isn’t afraid to take on a challenge, even if it is scary. Her friends and family describe Liz as compassionate and empathetic. She loves to explore her creativity by doodling, drawing, and writing. Liz also loves to read, play piano, organize her apartment, and watch a good movie, series, or documentary. In her free time, she enjoys going to concerts and comedy shows, and spending time with friends and family.

Liz began her journey with Easterseals MORC when she was 12 years old. Fast forward to today, she has her own space, is excited for what the future will bring, and is living a healthy life with tools and solutions to navigate life’s challenges.

“Easterseals MORC has always been there for me in times of need,” Liz said. “Despite ups and downs in life, I have never felt forgotten about or found myself without resources. The services they have provided have been reliable, helping to keep me grounded and stable.”

Currently, Liz receives home-based mental health, psychiatry, and med services. She explained that the team at Easterseals MORC has always showed up for her and provided her with support and compassion.

“My favorite part about services at Easterseals MORC is the vibe I have with my case manager, Miranda,” Liz said. “I feel comfortable during these appointments with her and it’s an opportunity to review my progress in relation to my goals.”

Recently, Liz said she has been working on implementing healthier habits into her daily routine. Some of these goals include eating healthier, improving sleep hygiene, journaling, practicing the piano, reading, and exercising regularly, establishing good skincare habits, staying sober, and maintaining a clean home.

Shortly after Liz experienced what she described as one of her lowest points, she joined a group at Easterseals MORC that educated attendees about mental health and gave them healthy coping skills. She shared how beneficial the group was to know she wasn’t on her journey alone. Photo of ambassador woman, sitting down in sunshine

“Easterseals MORC gave me answers and solutions to the challenges I was facing,” Liz said. “When I was 18 years old, I experienced my first extreme manic episode. Easterseals MORC gave me the tools I needed to move forward and offered support through a group that experienced similar challenges.”

Liz shared that she hopes to someday be a published and best-selling author, a professional pianist, and a successful salesperson. She also wants to continue building her confidence, so that she can have the gumption to go after these current and future dreams.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to be an ambassador,” Liz said. “I hope that my story can inspire someone who’s experiencing similar challenges as I have faced, to realize that Easterseals MORC can help you in ways that you may not be able to help yourself, and that’s okay!”
