Community Impact Award

If you know a person, company, or organization that does tremendous acts in our community for people with disabilities or special needs, nominate them for the Community Impact Award!

We will not only present them with an award they can proudly display but we'll also make sure they are properly recognized on this website and on Easterseals MORC social media pages.

Here is how to submit a nomination:

Send their name and the way they help the community to Craig Sharum at: csharum@eastersealsmorc.org.

Some of our recent recipients of this award:

On January 25, 2019, Easterseals MORC presented Key2Finesse with the Community Impact Award for their contribution to teen mental health. This impressive group of students raised $34,000 for mental health services at Easterseals MORC. In addition to fundraising, they spent a nearly a year advocating for the individuals we serve and stressing the importance of being mentally healthy.

Easterseals MORC awarded the Community Impact Award  to John Welker at the Cheers Gala on November 30, 2018.  John passed away this past June.  Helping children in need was John’s passion, and we appreciate his support over the years.  In addition to Easterseals MORC, John supported the Rainbow Connection, Clarkston SCAMP, The Carls Family YMCA, the Kirk Gibson Foundation, U-Cancer-Vive, and Community Sharing.  In John’s true fashion, there were also many other contributions, all done quietly.  It is for this reason that we are proud to give our Community Impact Award in John’s memory. John was very fond of Emily “Punky” Lickman when he met her as the child ambassador in 2015, and she presented the award to John’s family.

Novi High School football coach, Jeff Burnside (center), received the award for his leadership role in providing opportunities for children and young adults in the community with disabilities to participate in football. Marsha Champion (left) received the award for her dedication to promoting Easterseals Michigan's services within the community. She was instrumental in bringing the Over the Edge and Walk With Me events to Grand Rapids.

Walmart in Auburn Hills provided us with funds that allowed us to provide over 150 backpacks to children in Flint as they prepared to go back to school.

Detroit Taco Company in Royal Oak frequently provided job opportunities for individuals we serve.

When Macomb Bike and Fitness heard that a woman we serve was having transportation problems the donated a bicycle to her so she could still make her medical appointments.

The Wendy's location is located near our Nine Mile Road location and it is frequented by many of our staff and the people we serve. On numerous occasions our staff has witnessed the amazing patience and assistance they provided to the individuals we serve as well as others with disabilities.
