Summer Camp Counselors

Do you love the outdoors? Would you like to be part of a camping experience for children and young adults with disabilities? If so, join us at camp this summer and make a difference in the lives of our campers. We have two day camps and one overnight camp (see below). Day Camps
Camp Lily Lehigh Valley, held on the campus of Cedar Crest College, is primarily an indoor, classroom-based camp with an indoor swimming pool and limited outdoor activities. Camp Lily Berks, held on our campground on Mount Penn, is a traditional outdoor camp setting with indoor air conditioned space and outdoor pool. At both locations, campers participate in diverse activities from 9am to 4pm, Monday through Friday for six weeks beginning June 30.

Orientation and training takes place the week prior to camp and includes: positive behavior supports; mobility and transfer techniques; inclusion and social skills modeling; choice giving strategies; silliness and fun making. Counselors assist the Camp Director in implementing the curriculum and modeling the skills needed to ensure each camper has a positive and successful experience. Requirements: at least two years working in a classroom or camp setting, and a valid driver’s license. Competitive pay rate.

Overnight camp in the Poconos
Easterseals Camp Growing Green is an innovative camp for youth and adults with disabilities located on the campus of the Pocono Environmental Education Center in Dingmans Ferry, PA. Growing Green campers gain environmental awareness while also enjoying traditional camp activities like canoeing, nature walks, and campfires. Fully-accessible air conditioned lodging, dining hall, and on-site nurse. ACA accredited. Camp runs for six weeks beginning June 29. Weekly camp sessions run from Sunday through Friday. Counselors are off on Saturday.

Counselors assist the Camp Director in implementing the curriculum and modeling the skills needed to ensure each camper has a positive and successful experience. Requirements: experience in a classroom or camp setting or willingness to provide a camping experience to individuals with disabilities; driver's license. Lodging and meals provided. Competitive pay rate. 

Community Based Direct Support Professional

Do you enjoy helping others reach their full potential? Join us as a Community Based DSP and make a lasting impact in the lives of our consumers in the Lehigh Valley or Berks County. Easterseals Community Based DSPs play an integral role by supporting people with disabilities in a variety of community activities. This interaction assists in the development of meaningful social and job connections in the lives of individuals with disabilities. You will work one-on-one with individuals with special needs to achieve success in volunteer activities (food bank, animal shelters, libraries, etc.), recreational opportunities (art classes, cooking lessons, etc.) and career exploration (resume preparation, etc.). A High School Diploma and prior experience supporting people with disabilities along with the ability to work in various community settings is required. You must be able to work a flexible schedule, have a valid driver’s license and have the use of a personal vehicle to transport consumers (mileage is reimbursed). Starting wage is $18 per hour ($20 per hour after one year exemplary service) with shift differential. Benefits eligible after 90 days for regular full time employees or regular part time employees budgeted to work 30 hours or more per week per year.
