Russell Boseck of Villisca, Iowa, has farmed for more than 20 years.
Two years ago, Russell started a bottle calf program for day-old calves. He feeds 200 head of calves a year on his acreage that originate from large local dairy farms. He transports, raises and sells these calves independently in all types of weather. A new calf barn was designed with a steel structure, allowing small pens to be placed for wheelchair accessibility.
Russell said, “I wanted to continue farming as my livelihood and contribute in a meaningful way in my community. I wouldn’t have my operation and be where I am today if it weren’t for the staff at Easter Seals Iowa. I am so appreciative of Easter Seals Iowa’s advocacy for me and other farmers with disabilities.”
