With a license to give, this year's annual fundraising gala in New Orleans went down as smoothly as a martini - shaken, not stirred that is.

Additionally, this year, Easter Seals Louisiana was proud to honor Louisiana artist Christy Works-Boutte, with a lifetime achievement award for her courageous works and tireless efforts to raise awareness on behalf of those living with disabilities.  A childhood illness led to the loss of Works-Boutte’s hearing at the age of one. Subsequently, many observers and critics of her work attribute her rapid artistic maturity to this loss of hearing and the many obstacles she has had to overcome. Christy's determination as a young girl and unwavering belief in herself has continued throughout her career, and led to many successes as an artist.

"I'm honored to be selected as Easter Seals Louisiana’s honoree this year,” said Works-Boutee. "It means so much to me to be able to share with the world that despite whatever challenges we may have we all can overcome them.  It is my  hope that sharing my accomplishments will bring hope and inspiration to others."

The event was co-chaired by Beverly Matheney and George Rosenbohm IV. Committee members included Tina Beachler, Sara Duncan, Nikki Epps, Kelli Mayon, George Rosenbohm III and Sandy Sallettes. Notable donation items included signed prints from New Orleans artist Terrence Osborne, a signed jersey from former New Orleans Saints player Steve Gleason and a custom painting from honoree from Christy Works-Boutte.
