Central Missouri Services
Parent Education and Training - Easterseals Midwest offers a variety of parent education and training programs that are designed to create life-long changes for your child and your family by empowering you to take an active role in your child’s individualized support program. Each program involves a series of workshops followed by modeling and guided coaching sessions which teaches you hands-on skills and strategies to support your child.
- Parent Education and Training - This program is held throughout the year for either one or two weeks at a time at our Columbia office.
- Home-based Parent Education and Training - One of our autism specialists will meet and work with your family at your home over the course of several months.
- Accelerated Parent Education & Training - Join with other families from our 6 regional areas and engage in a full day of workshops. Following this training, an autism specialist will come to your home and continue to provide training and coaching for your family.
Community Inclusion - Under the guidance of an autism specialist, your child will have opportunities to build social networks and develop appropriate behavior responses withint a community setting. The specialist will also help your child in addressing specific issues. This program best attains its individualized goals when your family work closely with our staff member.
Family Support- We can provide Family Support Services to you, such as helping you create your child's Individualized Education Program or meeting with your child's educators.
- Specialized Groups - We offer a variety of social groups for all ages, music groups, and plays groups. For more details, please call our office, 573-874-3777.
- Family Connections - We bring families together to share information and support each other. We will discuss various topics during these meetings that address parental concerns and issues regarding autism.
Respite - Children with autism and their siblings have an opportunity to participate in planned activities while caregivers have an opportunity for a much needed break. This group event is scheduled for evenings throughout the year.
Crisis Intervention- Our staff is available to assist in a crisis situation by phone at any time. Our phone number is 573-874-3777.
Community Education - Upon request, our staff provides a variety of educational material and awareness presentations that are available to the public throughout Central Missouri. We can also provide specific presentations and informational meetings for community groups and organizations.
- School Services- Easterseals Midwest offers a variety of services to meet your school district’s needs. We can provide training and education for schools, observations of individuals in the school setting, as well as attend individualized education program meetings to support families and educators.
Applied Behavior Analysis - We offer a variety of ABA therapy services to support your child. and help him or her improve how he or she interacts with others. These tailored programs will meet the individual needs of your child and his or her situation.
SEALS - This is a special intensive, ongoing ABA therapy program for children with autism. It prepares children, ages three to six years old, to learn in a group setting and teaches them how to interact with their peers.
