Summary:

Easterseals of Northeast Ohio is looking for an energetic and compassionate Activity Aide to work 30-39 hours per week in our Adult Day Care to serve our clients and help to make a difference. No evenings or weekends! This right candidate for this position will be required but not limited to:

Basic Responsibilities:

This position provides care and support for seniors attending Adult Daycare by encouraging residents to participate in activities, assisting in the planning and implementing the activity calendar, accompanying residents on activities outside the facility, and providing direct care and transportation as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES (FUNCTIONS) INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:
•    Assist in the development of the monthly activity calendar.
•    Lead participants in planned activities and outings.
•    Assist in completing the client’s activity assessment.
•    Prepare, maintain, inventory, and assist in ordering materials for each day’s activities to ensure the effective flow of the schedule.
•    Assist or prompt consumers to safely perform social, physical, educational, and recreational activities in cooperation with the treatment team.
•    Assist clients arriving and departing the facility through private, public, or Easterseals transportation.
•    Assist clients in navigating and interacting safely on community outings, including monitoring safety during vehicle transportation.
•    Assist clients with walking and transferring.
•    Assist clients with toileting.
•    Observe and prompt the client through verbal, gestural, and physical cues.
•    Effectively communicate changes in client status or information observed or heard to the supervisor and ensure that appropriate documentation is maintained according to program standards.
•    At the Nurse’s instruction, provide care to support the client’s plan of care and goals.
•    Prepare food and serve food by USDA guidelines.
Maintain a clean and sanitary environment to protect the health and safety of clients, coworkers, and others.
•    Participate and complete educational in-service training and competencies as required.
•    Submit documentation of job-related training, licensure, and medical testing as required.
•    Track and chart client interactions and provide measurable outcomes of all program activities.
•    Transporting clients using company vehicles as directed and required.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must satisfactorily carry out each essential duty. The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skill, and ability required.  
•    Must be 18 or older and have a valid driver's license.
•    Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
•    Successful completion of a vocational program in the health or human service field, State Tested Nursing Assistant, or Certified Nurse Aide certification is preferred.
•    A minimum of two years of employment in a supervised position to provide personal care and activities or assist with activities is preferred.
•    Must meet agency requirements for criminal background checks.
•    Drug and alcohol testing per company policy and safety program.

•    Ability to communicate and problem-solve effectively, verbally and in writing.
•    Self-motivated and able to work independently.  
•    Must be organized and able to handle multiple tasks.  
•    Must be honest and dependable, protect confidentiality and the rights of all individuals served and employed by the agency.
•    Must exercise sound judgment in making decisions, solve problems, follow the chain of command under challenging situations, and act accordingly.

EQUIPMENT USED/MACHINERY REQUIRED TO OPERATE:
•    General office equipment, including computers and applicable software programs.  
•    Medical equipment utilized in the delivery of client care

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
•    Full range of body motion, including handling and lifting of clients.
•    May be required to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds to help deliver client care.
•    Frequently requires sitting, standing, walking, bending, squatting, kneeling, and reaching.
•    Potential exposure to blood and body fluids, infectious diseases, chemicals, and repetitive motions.
•    Occasionally exposed to loud/noisy environments.
