What is NDEAM?

Since 1945, October has been marked as the month to nationally recognize the importance of employing people who live with disabilities. As we currently know it, October is recognized as National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM). Throughout the past 75+ years of national advocacy for disabled people in the workplace, we as a society have made great strides; but we at Easterseals see there is still much work to do. This is why we continue to spearhead disability inclusion employment initiatives with the goal of 100% inclusion and 100% empowerment.

Until we see the end of employment inequity for people with disabilities, our work remains unfinished.

Recognizing NDEAM in 2021

The theme for NDEAM 2021 is "America's Recovery: Powered by Inclusion." As we navigate the disorienting fog of the global COVID-19 pandemic, it's especially important to ensure that people with disabilities are given equal opportunities to seek employment and community engagement as they are disproportionately impacted by the outcomes of the Coronavirus.
