Bonita Dowell
Dr. Bonita Dowell is a Speech-Language Pathologist with over 15 years of experience. She has been working with individuals with disabilities in a variety of settings, including Home Health and the public school system. She has been a member of several university clinics. However, she was extremely involved with the development of an interdisciplinary early intervention program for families of children between birth and three with developmental disabilities. Her educational background includes speech-language pathology and literacy with degrees from Columbia College and the University of Illinois –Champaign-Urbana, IL.
Serena V. Osher
Serena graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology in 1995 from the University of South Carolina and with a Master of Speech Pathology degree from the University of South Carolina in 1999. She has been practicing pediatric speech-language pathology, in both Georgia and South Carolina, since 1999. Serena has experience in a variety of settings, including public schools, private schools, community based early intervention settings and teletherapy. She is knowledgeable about working with families and their children who may have autism, speech-sound delays, apraxia, language delays, feeding delays, genetic disorders or a need for AAC (Augmentative & Alternative Communication). Serena is PROMPT+ trained and CAN-EAT trained. She earned the ASHA ACE (Award for Continuing Education) in December of 2019. Serena joined Easterseals of SC in 2017 and her favorite part about her job is building relationships with families and empowering them with the skills to help their child grow. She lives in Columbia with her husband, Kris, an occupational therapist. They spend their free time riding bikes, walking their 3 dogs, cooking, reading, restoring their home and learning from each other.
Cheryl Bowman
Cheryl graduated from Columbia College with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Speech Correction and with a Master of Arts in Speech Pathology and Audiology from South Carolina State College. She has worked with individuals with disabilities in a variety of settings beginning in the South Carolina school system where she worked with preschool through high school students. She has also worked in Birth to Three, Home Health, and Nursing Home settings. She resides in Columbia with her husband and children.
Jean Blaikie
Jean was raised in Columbia,SC and graduated from the Medical University of SC with a degree in Physical Therapy. She has worked as a Physical Therapist since graduating providing services to all ages and various diagnoses and has worked in SC, Ohio, and Michigan. Over the last 20 years she has served the pediatric population in public schools, and in an outpatient setting servicing children ages newborn through high school and their families. During her work she has gained experience working with developmental delays, Torticollis, toe walking, severe multiple impairments, CP, paralysis, various genetic disorders, neurological issues, and many other diagnoses. She has always enjoyed working with infants, children, and their families and it gives her great pleasure watching them engage in the treatment plan, and work hard to achieve their PT goals. Jean and her husband Doug have raised 3 sons, have a daughter-in-law, and 2of their sons are engaged to be married. Jean enjoys running, playing pickleball, and gardening in her spare time.
Carolyn Anderson
With a Bachelor's degree from Amherst College in Anthropology and a decade in IT, Carolyn always thinks about how systems and context affect interactions. In 2010, she decided to combine her analytical skills with her desire to help children and completed a Master's of Occupational Therapy at the University of Washington. Carolyn has worked with children in outpatient clinics and in schools. She is a firm believer in the importance of children feeling what they feel and finding appropriate ways to express it so that they become free to pursue their dreams and reach their greatest potential. Carolyn combines knowledge of self-regulation and sensory tools with a strengths and interest based approach to build strong relationships with children and families. This provides a foundation to engage in collaborative problem solving to achieve their goals and live more fully. Carolyn enjoys running, music, nature, and the outdoors.
Donna Hutchinson
Donna is a licensed speech-language pathologist with more than twenty years of experience providing early intervention services to young children in the natural environment. Her experience includes treating children with a variety of communication delays and disorders including articulation, phonology, verbal apraxia and expressive and receptive language. She has taught augmentative communication to nonverbal children. Many of her clients have been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and she has a special affinity for working with those children and their families. Donna has also treated feeding and swallowing disorders. Along with speech, Donna has experience as a registered nurse having worked in a variety of critical care areas. Her knowledge of anatomy and physiology, disease processes and medications has proven to be invaluable when serving medically fragile children. Donna graduated with a Masters of Speech Pathology from the University of South Carolina. She has a nursing degree from the University of South Carolina-Aiken. Donna lives in the country with her husband. She enjoys spending time with her grandchildren, raising chickens and exploring the great outdoors.
Amber Gadow
Amber Gadow attended the University of South Carolina and graduated with a Bachelors in Exercise Science with an emphasis in Motor Development in 2010 and then graduated as a Doctor of Physical Therapy from the Medical College of Georgia in 2013. Prior to working for Easterseals of South Carolina Amber worked in an outpatient hospital setting for the last 11 years where she primarily treated pediatric orthopedic conditions in patients age 0-12. She became a board-certified pediatric specialist in 2016. Amber loves treating pediatric patients, and one of her passions is bringing new and innovative treatment interventions to patients in addition to traditional therapy. She has treated patients using a variety of treatment interventions or settings including aquatic therapy, serial casting, functional electrical stimulation and a 3D gait analysis lab. Amber has given presentations related to pediatric gait and toe walking, pediatric gait and the use of FES systems and torticollis. Amber also is passionate about spreading child safety awareness, she is a Child and Passenger Safety Technician (CPST) and loves educating parents on car seats and how to best keep their little ones safe. Amber has served the Physical Therapy profession at both the State and National levels. At the state level, Amber served as a Delegate to the House of Delegates for South Carolina for two years before being elected as the Chief Delegate for 2 terms. Amber is the Co-Chair of the APTA-SC Legislative Committee and has given many presentations on this topic in addition to hosting a state legislative CEU event annually. Amber feels passionate about bringing groups of people together to benefit the patient experience and recently co-hosted a grant funded conference for pediatric and pelvic health therapists to network and learn. Amber was an APTA Centennial Scholar in 2020 and was named an APTA Emerging Leader from South Carolina in 2021. She has additionally received the APTA SC Emily Cate award for outstanding achievement in 2022 and the APTA SC Butch Buchanan award for clinical excellence in 2024. In her free time Amber enjoys traveling, volunteering with the Junior League of Columbia, antique shopping and spending time with her husband, their son Barker (3), daughter Collier (2) and their 2 furchildren, Cooper and Rosie.
