Calling all Military Caregivers! Give an Hour and Campaign to Change Direction are working to #changementalhealth
Military Caregivers providing practical tools, tips, and resources enabling Caregivers to care for their mental well-being and the mental well-being of others.
Give an Hour is a nonprofit that asks mental health professionals nationwide to literally give just an hour of their time each week to provide free mental health services to active duty service members, veterans, and their loved ones.
Clinical Specialist Brenda Campbell of Give an Hour will discuss the mission and services of the organization and most importantly, share how YOU as a caregiver can take advantage of such FREE services in your local area.
Joining Brenda, guest expert Jenny Hartsock, of the Campaign to Change Direction, will explain the 5 signs of emotional suffering that we should all be aware of in order to take care of ourselves and those we love. These Five Signs are simple, observable indicators that everyone can learn.

Dole Fellow:
Patti Katter has been caregiver to Ken for over eight years and has volunteered with several different organizations that help veterans transition from military to civilian life. During her husband’s deployment, Patti bonded with the wives of the soldiers in her husband’s unit and helped returning injured unit members. During her husbands deployment, 23 soldiers were killed in war and many others were wounded. Seeing a great need for support services for military spouses, Patti started a local support group and early on realized that a long-term support network would be critical. Patti has found her place employed by a military nonprofit, Hope for The Warriors, and says although her husband is retired, they’re still a military family — strong, courageous and resilient.
