Webinar #7: Military and Veteran Caregiving in a Rural Setting
Caregivers are a core part of America’s healthcare system – 5.5 million Americans support current or former Service members with a disabling injury or illness. Caregivers in rural communities face unique challenges in caring for their veterans, from the often complicated medical and mental conditions of their charges to receiving limited support from all corners of society. Barriers to care include the proximity ofEaster Seals Serving DC | MD | VA medical centers and clinics, access toEaster Seals Serving DC | MD | VA Caregiver support systems, and transportation issues. Rural caregivers tend to have fewer medical resources available to them to address routine and emergency care, as well as fewer overall caregiving resources.
