Disability nonprofit, Easterseals Western and Central Pennsylvania Announces  2024 Ambassadors Sophia and Jessa Sheehan and Candy Land Office Olympix

Pittsburgh, PA, March 7, 2024:   On Thursday, March 21, 2024, the Easterseals Western and Central Pennsylvania kick off the 36th Annual Office Olympix with registration at 5:00 PM and the games commencing at 6:15 PM.  As part of the team registration fee, all members will receive dinner, drinks (photo ID required) and a special Easterseals gift.  The 29 registered teams are encouraged to dress reflecting this year’s theme of “Candy Land.”  So, if you ever had a desire to be Lord Licorice this is the opportunity!  All funds raised benefit the programs and services that Easterseals provides for individuals with disabilities.

“At Easterseals, the very heart of our mission is helping members achieve 100% equity, inclusion, and access,” states Colleen Felentzer, Communications and Events Specialist.  Colleen continues, “two of the students who have benefited from our Johnstown speech therapy services are Sophia and Jessa Sheehan and we are pleased to announce that they will serve as the 2024 Ambassadors for the Johnstown area, and we look forward to working with them throughout the year.”

Diagnosed at four and three years old, respectively, Sophia and Jessa share the challenges of Childhood Apraxia. They have come a long way since first coming to Easterseals.  Becky Sheehan, mother of Sophia and Jessa says, “Looking back at where we started, I know we would not be where we are today without Miss Annette Shearman. She’s improving the lives of our children. I could never thank her enough for what she has given my children…. a voice of their own!”
