New Board Members Expand Outreach to Military for Easterseals DC MD VA

Silver Spring, MD — Easterseals DC MD VA welcomes two new members to its Board of Directors who bring extensive military and defense experience to the organization.

“I am thrilled to welcome Jon Barney and Jeff Gotherman to the Board,” says Jon Horowitch, President and CEO of Easterseals DC MD VA. “Their experience and passion for serving military veterans and military families will help ensure that our programs continue to meet current and emerging needs among this critical population.”

Jon BarneyJonathan “Jon” Barney is Partner and Head of the Industrial Practice at Odgers Berndtson. He has more than 20 years of executive search, leadership development, and management consulting experience, including serving as Managing Director at Avascent and at Booz Allen, where he oversaw engagements for aerospace defense, government services, and technology clients. He previously served as a Surface Warfare Officer in the U.S. Navy.

“I feel a strong alignment with Easterseals’ mission,” Barney says. ”particularly with its programs to provide employment support, respite care, and behavioral health services to military families in this region. I hope that my network in the defense and national security community will help Easterseals expand its engagement with those who can benefit from these programs.”

Barney earned his BS from the United States Naval Academy with Honors and his MBA from Harvard Business School.

Jeff GothermanJeff Gotherman is the Principal Director of Army Enterprise Business Modernization at Booz Allen. In his role, he is responsible for portfolio oversight and business development of enterprise technology and strategy projects for U.S. Army clients, specifically aligned to the Army enterprise and Headquarters, Department of Army (HQDA). He has over 20 years of experience in the DoD with a focus in Army across strategy, policy, data and cyber programs.

A graduate of James Madison University, Gotherman says he hopes to bring to the Easterseals DC MD VA Board “a fresh perspective that incorporates knowledge of today’s military environment, the importance of data management, and a personal journey to understand and support people who have some disability, either seen or unseen.”

Gotherman adds, “The mission to support aging parents, a child with a disability, and our military and its veterans all are close to my life and work.  I am excited to help Easterseals support these impactful missions.”
