Children Birth to 36 Months - Parents as Teachers Affiliate

Easterseals Midwest Parents as Teachers Affiliate promotes children’s brain development by sharing positive parenting techniques with families and offering developmental screenings and activities to children, as well as service recommendations.  Our program provides FREE support for families with young children – with and without disabilities – prenatal to 36 months.  Parent educators will visit your home twice monthly and will be a resource to help you better understand your child’s development.  This program also offers the opportunity to meet and interact with other families and children through scheduled Group Connections and Parent Cafés in your area.

This program offers:

  • Two visits each month in your home to help you learn about your child's development and provide ideas for activities to stimulate your child's learning.
  • Diapers or wipes at each visit.
  • Books monthly.
  • Developmentally-appropriate toys and other items quarterly.
  • Information to help you cope with the stress of being a parent and how to respond to your child's developmental needs in a nurturing way.
  • Developmental screenings for your child.
  • Opportunities to meet and interact with other families through playgroups and events in your area.

What regions offer Home Visiting?

This program is available in the following counties: Andrew, Atchison, Bates, Benton, Buchanan, Caldwell, Carroll, Clinton, Daviess, DeKalb, Gentry, Grundy, Harrison, Henry, Hickory, Holt, Jackson, Johnson, Lafayette, Livingston, Mercer, Nodaway, Pettis, Ray, Saline, St. Clair, Worth.

How to qualify for Home Visiting Services:

  • Have a child prenatal to 36 months old
  • Meet the income requirements (similar to WIC Program).
  • Reside in one of the counties (listed above) where Home Visiting Services are offered.

Children and Young Adults Three to 19 Years Old - Nurturing Parent Program

Home Visiting promotes children's continued brain development by sharing positive parenting techniques. Our program provides FREE support for families living in Clay and Jackson counties with children of all abilities, ages three to 19. Parent educators will visit your home for ten visits to help you cope with the stress of being a parent, offer opportunities for you to interact with other families while having fun with your own, and helpful parenting resources.

This program offers:

  • Regular visits in your home to help you learn about your child's development and provide ideas for activities to stimulate your child's learning.
  • Information to help you cope with the stress of being a parent and how to respond to your child's developmental needs in a nurturing way.
  • Opportunities to meet and interact with other families through playgroups and events in your area.

What regions offer Home Visiting?

This program is currently available in Clay and Jackson Counties only.

How to qualify for Home Visiting Services:

  • Have a child three to 19 years old.
  • Reside in Clay or Jackson County.
