Pre-Employment Group Services: RISE
Reaching Independence and Successful Employment (RISE)
RISE is a six-month to one-year employment program that helps people with disabilities develop competitive employment.
Participants in this program will:
- Be assessed on their job readiness at the beginning of services and the end of the internship.
- Gain hands-on work experience at designated internship sites throughout the Kansas City metro area.
- Receive group instructional training through a 24-week employment-focused curriculum on the soft skills necessary for successful employment.
- Develop work-related hard skills at an assigned 24-week internship site.
- Receive 1:1 career discovery, exploration, and planning services with an assigned Employment Specialist.
- Find meaningful, competitive employment.
Participants will be supported through observation and assessment to determine next steps when they reach the end of their six-month internship assignment. Participants and their support team will determine whether to move forward with job placement or to remain in the program for six additional months at the end of the program.
