What is Ticket to Work?
The Ticket to Work is an employment program for people with disabilities who are interested in going to work. The Ticket Program is part of the Ticket to Work and Work Incentives Improvement Act of 1999 legislation designed to remove many of the barriers that previously influenced people’s decisions about going to work because of the concerns over losing health care coverage. The goal of the Ticket Program is to increase opportunities and choices for Social Security disability beneficiaries to obtain employment, vocational rehabilitation (VR), and other support services from public and private providers, employers, and other organizations.
Under the Ticket Program, the Social Security Administration provides disability beneficiaries with a Ticket they may use to obtain the services and jobs they need from a new universe of organizations called Employment Networks (ENs). (yourtickettowork.com)
How can Easter Seals North Texas help?
Easter Seals North Texas is a member of the Employment Network and can help ticket holders identify and secure competitive employment. By partnering with Easter Seals, you will receive encouragement and support during the job search and retention process. Referrals are sometimes available based on the applicants skills set.
How do I get started?
If you have received a Ticket, please fill out and submit the pre-application form. Once your application has been approved, an Easter Seals employee will contact you to continue the process.
After August 10, 2012, please contact the Ticket to Work Call center at 1-866-968-7842, your local vocational rehabilitation agency, or an Employment Network (EN) for questions regarding how work affects your disability benefits. You can find contact information for your state Vocational Rehabilitation program in the phone book, or online at www.dars.state.tx.us.
